God’s love for humanity is seen in Jesus. God gave his only begotten Son, so that those who believe in him should have eternal life (John 3:16). Paul reminds us that this act of love was done even though we were/are unworthy of this great sacrifice (Romans 5:6-10). The sacrifice of Jesus was the sinless Son of God in place of sinful humanity, and through his sacrifice we can be forgiven of our sins (Matthew 20:28). This forgiveness is ours when we obey the Lord. Yes, we need to obey (Hebrews 5:9). To be forgiven each one needs to believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God (John 8:24), repent of their sins (Acts 2:38), confess Jesus as the Christ (Acts 8:37; Romans 10:10) and be baptized for the forgiveness of sins (Acts 2:38; 22:16). Then we need to walk in the path God has given in the pages of the New Testament, serving him in full faith (2 Timothy 3:16, 17).
